Hyper Cache is really one of the most simplest and easy to use caching plugin for WordPress. If you are using Hyper Cache plugin in your WordPress site, and when trying to update Hyper Cache, or if you are installing it for the first time, you may get this error: Hyper Cache was not able to create the folder “cache” in its installation dir. Create it by hand and make it writable. In this short tutorial, we will learn how to solve this issue.
Connect your FTP program like Filezilla or open cPanel and click on File Manager.
Browse to public_html/wp-content/plugins/hyper-cache and create a new folder named as “cache”.
There’s no need to give any permissions to this new folder, but just in case if you want to check its permission, then it should be “0755”.
That’s done. Now login to your WordPress admin and you won’t again get that notification.
Note: Every time you update to a new version of this plugin, these steps should be repeated. I really hope the plugin author solves this issue in future versions.
