Weight
Talking about Amazon’s all new Kindle Oasis, it is the thinnest and lightest Kindle ever. It is 30 percent thinner than other Kindle, and 20 percent lighter. It weighs only 133 grams, compared to Voyage which weighs at 180 grams and Paperwhite which weighs at 205 grams. The lighter, the better of course.
Display
When it comes to resolution, then all three Kindle devices feature the same 300 ppi resolution but there are other technical differences. As per Amazon, Oasis has a new built-in light that features 60% more LEDs than any other Kindle, making it the most brightest Kindle ever.
On the other hand, the Voyage offers adaptive front light which means the light sensor will automatically adjust brightness to your current environment.
Battery life
When it comes to battery life in Kindle devices, they usually last very long, unlike smartphones and tablets that needs to be charged daily, or in some cases, twice daily. Battery usually lasts weeks, not just hours.
As per Amazon, the Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage can last for weeks, but with Kindle Oasis, Amazon has took things to the next level. On Kindle Oasis, battery is said to last for months, thanks to its dual-battery charging system. It comes with a removable leather cover that also doubles up as a charger. When the cover is snapped in, the device and the cover will simultaneously charge up, and when on the go, the cover will automatically recharge the device, giving you months of combined battery life. There’s also a new hibernation mode that minimizes power consumption when your Kindle is inactive, offering you more battery life.
Pricing
Since the Kindle Oasis is the latest toy in the market, and comes with leather charging cover, it is going to cost you more. The WiFi model is priced at $289, while the WiFi plus 3G model is priced at $359. The pricing for Kindle Paperwhite starts from $119, while of Kindle Voyage starts from $199.
It can be said that Oasis is priced twice that of Paperwhite. But is worth the extra money? Is all the bells and whistles of Oasis worth the amount it costs? Well, the answer depends on how much you read, and how much you value features like better display, charging cover, lightness (weight wise), thinness, and such.
