Get Unlimited Local Storage Using RapidDrive [For RapidShare Users]

November 12, 2011 by Saqib Leave a Comment

There are many file sharing services out there but RapidShare still holds its ground as one of the most popular and most used file sharing services. Of course, we don’t like its waiting period but that’s what free users have to suffer with. Those who do not want any such limitations and want to have unlimited storage, unlimited traffic, faster bandwidth and more can opt for RapidShare premium account.

RapidShare premium users need to pay the fixed amount as per their choice of plan for one month, 2 years, or any other period. This service is going to cost e.g. € 9.90 for 1 month. Those who have opted for RapidShare Premium account, here is something that will make your life easier. Introducing RapidDrive – a free software which turns your Rapidshare account into a local hard drive with unlimited storage.

RapidDrive for Rapidshare

This free program will map your RapidShare Premium account as a local drive in your Computer. Uploading and downloading files to your RapidShare account is as easy as copy paste, just like any other local drive. So instead of visiting the online site and uploading, its better to use this freeware and upload files easily.

Consider this as a syncing tool for RapidShare users. This tool will create a temporary folder. If you shut down your PC or internet connection gets disconnected during an upload, the upload will be restarted. The file stays in the temporary folder until the upload was successful.

Install this program and reboot the system. The program runs in the system tray and you won’t find any complex configurations. It will prompt you to enter RapidShare login credentials, do that save the settings. The program will verify the login details. Once the process is complete, you will be able see a new drive under “Network locations” in “My Computer”. A drive letter will be automatically assigned to this new drive. It would be great if the program asks us to choose a drive letter, hope this would be added in future versions. To check the status of uploads, you can check the tray menu.

When downloading this application from the official site, it will prompt you to compete any one of the offers. Click on any offer and sign up for that. After this step is complete, you can download the application.

Using this application is free but RapidShare Premium account comes at a cost. Those who already have premium accounts will find this application to be very useful. It requires Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and Windows 7 (preferred) or Windows XP.
