The taskbar of Windows is very useful as a quick shortcut to access your favorite programs. The Jumplist feature enables the user to access recently opened files related to that program. To access Jumplist, simply right-click on a program and then you can open previously used file directly from there.
Windows 8 also comes with the taskbar but one feature that many users will be missing is the Start menu. But there’s a way to get back the Start Menu in Windows 8.
Windows, for some reason, only allows to pin programs and executable files to the taskbar. For example, you cannot pin a folder, control panel, etc. items.
Here comes a freeware program known as Taskbar Pinner that can pin just anything to the Windows 7 and Windows 8 taskbar.
This program comes with four options:
- Pin a File
- Pin a Folder
- Pin a Shell Location (For example: Recycle Bin)
- Pin a Library (For example: Pictures, Music, etc.)
To pin, you can either select one of the options in the program’s interface or you can also simply drag and drop the files or folders that you want to pin into the programs interface.
If you click on shell location or library, then you’ll be presented options that you can select and add to the Windows taskbar. You can also select multiple options and then click on “Pin items.”
“Pin a Library” has only four options where you can pin: Documents, music, pictures and videos whereas “Pin a Shell Location” has many options like Administrative tools, Action center, All tasks, Computer, Control Panel, Favorites, Folder options, Network, Run, Search, etc.
It can be said that you can pin everything to the taskbar, like any file, folder, virtual folder, control panel applet, shell location, library, etc.
Overall, this is a one-stop solution to pin anything. This is a portable app and therefore you only need to run the app. There are two folders in the zip file, so make sure you open the folder for your respective operating system.
