When iOS 6 was released, it came with an unwanted change – the native YouTube app was removed. Google then took a good step by releasing a YouTube app for iPhone, but till now Google has not released the YouTube app for iPad. Surely iPad users are feeling left out and are searching for some alternative YouTube player for iPad.
How to Download/Save Videos from YouTube to iPad/iPhone Directly
Enter McTube, a YouTube player for iPhone and iPad. This app includes almost all the features that the YouTube website offers, plus there’s one more added feature that allows you to download videos from YouTube and watch them offline, even when you are not connected to the Internet.
The free version of this app displays a large banner at the bottom of the screen. There’s a paid version also that gets rid of the ad but it costs $1.99.
There are seven buttons at the bottom of the app. These buttons lets you perform various actions, like sign-in to your account, access history, download, settings and more. Tap on “Account” to sign-in to your account and then you can access your favorites, playlists, uploaded and watch later videos. The Search button lets you search on YouTube for your favorite video. The “History” option stores history of all the videos that you have viewed till date.
Once you play a video, there’s a “download” button at the top right of the screen. Tap on it to download the video to your iPad or iPhone. The download process then starts instantly and you can view all the downloading and downloaded videos from the “downloads” button at the bottom of the screen. If the download is in progress, then you can also view the progress bar. Once the download process is finished, you can tap on a video and then the video will start playing.
It can be said that the interface of this YouTube client resembles much to the YouTube website. Use McTube to browse and watch YouTube videos on your iPad, iPhone and iPod touch and if you want to download the video, then that’s also possible with a single tap at the “download” button.
