Who doesn’t love to browse shopping sites. Some people are so addicted to browsing and checking prices of items that they can spend hours doing this. What do you do when you want to buy something but think that it is expensive at the moment, and maybe you’ll buy it after its prices reduces. But how do you track the price drop on your favorite shopping sites like Amazon, Steam, etc? There’s of course a manual way to do this, by visiting the website everyday, but this method is going to cost time and effort. Therefore, here’s a smart way to get notified automatically when prices drop on shopping sites.
Automatically Get Notified of Price Drop on Shopping Sites
This is a Google Chrome extension named as That is Worth. The plus point of Chrome browser is that it has got lots of useful extensions that can make our life easy, this extension runs in the background and keeps on checking price at regular intervals as set in the options page.
After installing this extension, you’ll need to configure the options page. For example, you can change update frequency, enable/disable desktop notifications and check for price change manually. The update frequency helps you set the price check interval like 3 Hours, 4 Hours, etc.
The magic starts when you visit a product page on Amazon, for example. On Chrome’s address bar, you’ll notice a new orange colored icon. Click on that icon, you’ll see the current price for that product. Also there will be a text area to enter the target price (this is the price that you are willing to pay). For example, see the below screenshot – Kindle Fire is available for $199, but I want to buy it only when it’s available for $180. Therefore, I entered $180 and closed that pop-up box. This extension will add the item to the list of tracked/monitored items and then later on, when the price of item reaches less than the target price, you’ll get notified by this extension.
If in future, you want to see a complete list of tracked items, then just navigate to the options page of this extension, click on “View tracked items” and you will see a complete list, with details like store, item, current price, target price and percentage of target. If an item is out of interest for you, then you can also remove that item.
This extension works on sites like Amazon, Direct2Drive, Greenman Gaming and Steam. For price check on other shopping sites, this extension will not work. Those who are interested on other shopping sites (like Newegg, eBay, BestBuy) may need to wait more, until the developer adds support for those sites.
If you are the one who regularly shops online, then you should definitely try out this extension and save money.
