Searching and finding for relevant information is so easy these days, thanks to search engines. From those thousands of results, we may need to open at least 10 results sometimes to get relevant information. If you are a power user who uses search engines to research or for any other task, then here is a superb extension using which you can open multiple search results at once. Normally we keep the Ctrl key pressed and then click on the link to open it in a new tab.
Search engines like Bing, Google, DuckDuckGo and others don’t have any such option to open multiple search results and that’s why the need for a better solution. For faster access to information, we may need to open many results at once.
Google Search Improver – open multiple results on same page
Google Search Improver is a really useful userscript. To use this userscript, you need to have Greasemonkey installed for your browser (Firefox). After installing Greasemonkey, you need to head over to this userscript page and click on the Install button to install this script.
If you are using Google Chrome, then there’s no need to install Greasemonkey. Just directly head over to the userscript’s page and install this script.
This userscript adds options to the search results page of Google. The script adds following four options:
- Top 5 Open/close: Open the top 5 results in an iframe (within the same page).
- All Open/close: Open or close all results in an iframe on Google search results page.
- Top 5 tab: Open top 5 results in a new tab.
- All tab: Open all results in a new tab
These options can improve Google search and the way you open and browse those result pages. The option to open results within the same page saves time so that you don’t have to open that page in a different tab or window. Just one click is required to open top 5 results in the same page and one click to hide.
If you don’t want to open top 5 results, then you can also open an individual results page by clicking on the icon on the left side of the result’s title. This will open that particular result in a frame on the same page. If you click on that icon for second time, then the frame would be closed from the page.
Note that some websites doesn’t allow iframe and therefore this feature may not work on some sites. But on majority of sites, this would work great. The best part is that you don’t even need to leave your search results page as you can see a preview right there and also you can open multiple results easily.
