Upload A Pin Manually And Provide A Link To That Pin On Pinterest

March 30, 2012 by Saqib Leave a Comment

Pinterest is fun and addictive. This new site has become a source of traffic for many blogs and websites. Pinning on Pinterest is also very easy as the user can just use the Pin it bookmarklet or Pin manually from Pinterest. Normally a user clicks on “Add a Pin” button and then enter the URL to the webpage that he/she wants to pin. Pinterest would automatically scan the webpage for the image and then a user can change the image that would be displayed for that pin. But when a user selects Upload a Pin button, there is no option to provide a link to that pin or image. In this tutorial, you will learn how to upload a pin manually and then provide a linkback to that pin so that it points to a particular URL (webpage).

How to Upload a Pin and Provide a Link to an Image

  1. Click on the Add button from top bar.
  2. Click on Upload a Pin button.
  3. Pinterest pin

  4. Choose an image file to upload by clicking on Choose file button.
  5. upload pin

  6. Add description, select a category and click on Pin it button.
  7. pin it

  8. You’ll be able to see the pin on its separate page. Click on Edit button.
  9. link image

  10. Enter the Link URL in Link field.
  11. link Pinterest

This method can also be followed if you have uploaded images on Pinterest and now you want to provide a link to your pins. All you need to do is to just edit that pin and then enter the link.

Pinterest should add the option to add a link when we upload the Pin, along with other options like category and description. Till then, you can use the above method to add a link to a Pin (or Pinterest image).

Bonus Tip: Affiliate marketers can also use Pinterest to manually upload images and then enter the affiliate link for that product. For example, if you want to provide a link to your affiliate Amazon product, then you cannot use the “Add a pin” method because it will directly get the URL of the Amazon page and not your affiliate link. That’s why use the “Add a Pin” method to upload an image manually and then follow the above tutorial to provide your affiliate link to that image/pin.
