Just when it seemed that now is the end to Harry Potter franchise, J.K. Rowling announced something amazing for Harry Potter fans. She revealed Pottermore, a site which will feature a wealth of unpublished materials about the fantasy world of Harry Potter.
Here’s the video in which she introduces Pottermore. This is really an innovative method to launch the site via Youtube, and giving an introduction about the new site.
This site will sell all 7 Harry Potter novels as eBooks and audiobooks and in several different languages. Rowling already made it clear that she had no plans to write another novel. This new site will have more than 18,000 words about the novel’s characters, places, objects and much more.
This new site will be highly interactive, where you can read unpublished materials, with interactive and animated storylines. The emphasis will be firmly on reading and the “literary experience”. Don’t expect this to be any other graphic adventurous game.
In a press conference, she said “”I had more than half of the new material already written or in note form. I literally dug some out of boxes. I generated more material than ever appeared in the books. I thought ‘who would ever want to know the significance of all the difference wand woods?’ … Now you can go and see. It’s such a rich experience to do it this way.”
The long awaited ebooks and audiobooks can be purchased from this site, from October 2011. This new site will open for the first million users who register on 31st July, which is Harry Potter’s birthday. The full launch of the site will take place on October. The author added “”I wanted to give something back to the fans that have followed Harry so devotedly over the years, and to bring the stories to a new generation”. She also said “I hope fans and those new to Harry will have as much fun helping to shape Pottermore as I have. Just as I have contributed to the website, everyone else will be able to join in by submitting their own comments, drawings and other content in a safe and friendly environment. Pottermore has been designed as a place to share the stories with your friends as you journey through the site”.
Rowling’s publisher will also receive a share of revenue from these digital editions. The books and resources will be compatible with all devices, but only will be sold on this site. This means no intermediaries like Amazon. More information can only be revealed on 31st July. For now, you can head over to this site, and enter your Email address to get notified when the registrations start.
