The black navigation bar is displayed on most of Google’s product. Unfortunately, Google doesn’t display any options to customize this bar. Currently you can see links to +You, Search, Images, Maps, Play, YouTube, News, Gmail, Documents, Calendar and More. You may not be using all of these services and only using some selected services from them. May be you’re using some services from the “Even more” menu. In such a case you may want to remove some of these services and add the services that you regularly use, so that you can easily access that service from the navigation bar. But how can you reorder these links? Let’s take closer look at how to solve this problem.
If you are using Google Chrome browser, then here’s an easy solution.
Sort and Reorder Items on Google Navigation Bar
Install the Big G Black Bar Sorter extension for Chrome. After installing this extension, all you need to do is to just drag and drop items to your convenient place. You can sort the order of the items, or remove the items to the “More” drop-down menu. Simply arrange the services as per your convenience.
As you can see in the below screenshot, I have reordered the navigation bar.
If you want to add an item from “Even more” menu, click on “Even more” and then on “Add to Drop Down”.
This will add that item/link to the beginning of the navigation bar. You can now sort this item as per your wish, by dragging and dropping.
This is a handy extension for those who frequently use Google’s black toolbar. It does its job pretty well by removing and sorting unused items, the way we want. For example, if you think that the link for Gmail should be placed in the right side, then this extension can do that.
Update: This extension is no longer available.
