How to Reformat an iPad Using iTunes

If you are thinking to sell your iPad or want to go for an iPad 2, then you may not really like to give your precious data to the new owner. Or whatever your reason may be, the solution is simple, just reformat the data of your iPad.

Reformat iPad Using iTunes

This process will remove everything from your iPad, including settings, apps and data and after following this process, your device will be like a brand new and unused device.

  • Open iTunes and plug your iPad into your Mac/computer
  • Select iPad from the left side of iTunes
  • In the default summary tab, click on Restore. (Refer below screenshot)
  • reformat ipad

  • Most likely you won’t like to take backup, therefore click on “Don’t back up”.

That’s done. The process will take some time to format iPad, depending on the data it may time some time. Don’t worry, sit back and let the process finish.

Your iOS system software will be restored and here comes your new iPad, completely free from your old data, settings and apps. iTunes is really a very useful application and as you can see, it can help you in many ways.

Note: Reformat process is also sometimes referred to as “Reset to factory default settings”
