Sometimes, you may forget IP address of your router. Now you may need it to upgrade your firmware of router or to change some security settings, reason can be anything. Router’s are something which we don’t configure everytime. We do it once after buying it and then later on, we may forget the IP address. Some people may even forget the password which they have used to create a private network. In this short tutorial, we will see how to know (trace) your router’s local IP address.
Step One:
Windows XP users can press Windows key + R to start run command. Windows Vista and Windows seven users can start click on Start and type cmd
Step Two:
Now just type in ipconfig
Step Three:
You can see the network information from here. Default gateway is your router IP address.
Some more information:
Many router companies set their default IP address like Linksys routers use 192.168.1.1 and Netgear and D-Link routers typically use 192.168.0.1. Usually every brand mention their IP address in documentation and guide book which come with the packaging. So if you have preserved that guide, then you can refer it also.
