How to Create & Upload Photo Slideshows on YouTube Using Slideshow Creator

March 14, 2013 by Saqib Leave a Comment

YouTube is the most popular destination to upload and share videos with the world. It has now become the favorite site for many people to spend hours by watching their favorite music videos, movie trailers, listen to songs and more. Apart from hosting the video, YouTube also has a basic video editor for its users, just in case the video needs editing. Of course this video editor cannot be compared to high end video editing tools at this stage. But what many people don’t know is that apart from videos, users can now also create photo/picture slideshows on YouTube using the YouTube Slideshow Creator. Let’s learn how to do this.

If you’ve got a few photos lying around, then you can upload them to YouTube and create a picture slideshow with different slide and transition effects. Plus, the user can also add audio to the slideshow.

How to Create a Photo Slideshow on YouTube

Head over to YouTube, sign-in and click on the Upload button from the top-right. Here’s a direct link to the upload page for your convenience.

From the right side, click on the Create button below Photo Slideshow option.

This will open a photo selection window, from where you can select the photos that you’ve already uploaded or you can upload new photos too. To upload photos, click on the “Upload Photos” option and then select and upload photos. Press Ctrl to select multiple photos.

Next, you’ll be able to see a preview of the uploaded photos. You can now rearrange them from here, or even remove the photos that you don’t want in the slideshow.

Once you are satisfied, scroll down the bottom of the page and click on Next.

You’ll now be able to see the photo slideshow in the video format. From here, you can change slideshow duration (from fit to music to 10 seconds), change slide effect (apply pan and zoom or select none) and change transition settings (like crossfade, circle, checkerboard, diamond, heart, puzzle, radial wipe, star, vertical wipe, horizontal blinds and more).

From the right side, you can also apply the audio track to your slideshow. This audio track will be played when the video is playing. Note that there’s no option to upload your own audio track at this stage.

Once you are satisfied by the result, click on the blue Upload button. Now you can add title, description and tags to your photo/image slideshow, select a category and set its privacy setting. If you don’t want to share this video to the public, then you can set its privacy as “Unlisted.” The changes that you make will be automatically saved. That’s all you need to do!

Conclusion

YouTube’s Photo Slideshow creator is definitely a superb addition to the site. Those who want to create basic photo slideshows will love this new addition to YouTube. But we cannot ignore the fact that there’s no way to add text and shapes to the slideshow, nor is there any way to manually upload an audio track to be used in the slideshow. But nevertheless, this tool is worth trying, after all, we’re sharing the slideshow on the world’s most popular video destination, which means more exposure to the slideshow.
