Many people occasionally use Newsstand app. It mostly seems as a useless app. If you would like to remove/hide the Newsstand icon from the home screen, this tutorial will help you.
Those who don’t want this app place it on the last page of their home screen. This trick works but is not exactly a solution.
Filippo Bigarella, an active developer in the jailbreak community has developed an application named as StifleStand for Windows and Mac platform. This program can move the Newsstand icon into a folder and the best part is that no jailbreak is required to do this.
To hide your Newsstand app using StifleStand, follow the below process:
Step 1: Download and run StifleStand (for Windows and Mac platform)
Step 2: Plug in your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 5 or higher and then StifleStand should detect it.
Step 3: Click on the “Hide Newsstand” button on StifleStand.
That’s all you need to do. StifleStand will create a folder named as “Magic” and it will place Newsstand on this folder.
This new folder is just like a normal folder on iOS. You can rename it, add more apps to it or remove apps from it.
But if you are the one who use Newsstand occasionally, then you should not place it in a folder and the reason behind this is if you run Newsstand from a folder, then it will kick you back to the lock screen and the app won’t start. So when you want to use Newsstand, temporarily remove it from the folder and place it back on your home screen.
StifleStand should be able to run on iPhone 5 or any other device also. Try it out on iOS 5 and iOS 6.
