Mozilla is releasing new versions of Firefox as fast as it can. It seems like just now we updated the browsers for Firefox 7, and now the new Firefox 8 is here. This next update (stable version) is going to be released on November 8th. But as always, those who can’t wait for the official announcement, can download it from Mozilla’s FTP servers.
This new major version does not have any major user interface changes, but it comes with some new functionality related changes. One such important change which should have been introduced earlier, is that while installing add-ons it will prompt you to approve/allow the installation of that add-on. Previously any third part add-ons can be installed without any prompt or user notification. This is not much effective from security point of view and leaves the browser vulnerable for attacks.
The awesome bar is now more awesome, as it includes a new Twitter search engine to search for Twitter messages. These messages can be searched from browser’s address bar and also through search bar.
Firefox is changing its version numbers so fast, that it is becoming more hectic to keep on releasing add-ons that are compatible with new version. Because of this, many existing addons become incompatible with the new version. But that is bound to happen and addon developers need to act fast.
