For those who don’t kow, Fedora is a Linux based operating system. The new version i.e. Fedora 11 is released. Fedora fans have been waiting for this for a long time. As you know, Ubuntu and Mandriva are released, so now the concentration of FOSS users is mainly on Fedora 11.
It comes in a Live CD, so that you can try it out without installing. You can download either the GNOME desktop environment or either the K Desktop Environment. Some of its features are:
KDE 4.2.2 : The latest K Desktop Environment, with all its eye candy.
Less boot up time: Now more faster boot up time and shutdown times are also reduced.
Plymouth: Beautiful graphical boot animation.
GNOME 2.26.1: Major change includes Brasero as CD/DVD burning application, and some other minor changes.
EXT4 filesystem: Now the default filesystem is EXT4 in Fedora 11. A very good step taken by the developers of Fedora. EXT4 filesystem is more fast than EXT3.
Mozilla Firefox 3.5 Beta: New enhancements make this popular open source software a worthy choice.
Nouveau: The open source NVIDIA driver tool.
Automatic Fonts & Mime Installer: It enables third party applications to automatically install fonts, codecs and cliparts.
Thunderbird 3 Beta: A very good email client with improved performance.
Ofcourse there are many more features, which I have not stated here. Go try this new Leonidas.
