The Nexus 4 from Google has been in huge demand ever since it’s launch. The phone was out of stock for quite some time, but the good news is that the phone is back in stock at the Play Store. If you’ve recently got the Nexus 4, then the first thing that you’ll do is to configure its settings to suits your needs. Most of the options are available in the “Settings” app, but strangely, one may find difficulty in locating the option to activate the silent mode on the Nexus 4 smartphone.
How to Set/Enable Silent Mode on Nexus 4
There are two ways for doing this. You can use any of the below methods to set your phone on silent mode.
1. The first thing that you’ll need to do is to unlock your phone. Once unlocked, press and hold down the volume down button until you’re in silent mode. To set your phone back to normal mode, simply press the volume up button till that volume bar reaches to the right. Of course, feel free to adjust this volume bar to increase or decrease the ringtone and notification sounds on your phone.
2. The second method to enable the silent mode on Nexus 4 is to first unlock the device. Now, press and hold down the “Power” button (the same button that you press to lock/unlock your phone). You’ll now be able to see some quick toggle options. Tap on the “Silent” button (as shown in below screenshot) to enable the silent mode. Alternatively, you can also set your phone to “vibrate” mode from this screen.
To disable/turn off the silent mode, tap on the “volume” button from the bottom right of the screen. Note that if you keep on tapping on the silent mode, then it won’t switch your phone back to normal mode, because there’s a separate toggle to set the phone on normal mode. It’s somewhat confusing but once you learn it, it works great.
