Apple’s free App of the Week is a hit. Every Thursday Apple reveals a new app that can be downloaded for free for a complete week. Last week’s free app was 360 Panorama and this week’s free app is Kayak Pro (at the time of writing this article). Sometimes you may think that you are not going to use this app and therefore you don’t download it but in future you might that need that app. Let’s take the example of Kayak Pro, which you may not use today but you may use it in the future. That’s the reason why you should always download it when you see the promotion, as it’s free and it won’t cost you a buck.
This trick not only applies to the free app of the week, but sometimes during promotional offers, paid apps are also available as free. At that very moment, download it as who knows till when the offer is available. As an example, Cover Orange was available free sometime back and now it costs $0.99.
Of course if you’re not going to use the app right away, then you can delete it from your device which will free up the used space. Don’t worry, when you want to use that app again in the future, you can simply install it again.
If you’ve downloaded the app and then deleted from your device, then you can get it back/install it from App Store on your iOS device.
Open App Store and then tap on “Purchased” option from the bottom. This should open the purchased section which will list out all the apps that you’ve purchased till date. Now, tap on “Not on this iPad” (or iPhone/iPod) section which will list out all the apps that you’ve purchased but not currently installed on the device. From here, simply tap on the app name to install the app.
Thanks to the iCloud and purchased section of App Store, you can instantly download any of the purchased app. This way, you can take advantage of all the free promotions/offers from the App Store.
Whenever you come across a free app, be it from App of the Week or from a developer, download it. If you’re not going to use it at the moment, then you can delete it and in future when the need arises you can again download it. You never know when you’re going to need that app and therefore you should download it the moment you see the free promotion offer.
