Windows 8 comes with many new features that were never seen before. The new Metro user interface gives an entire new look and feel to how Windows function. One of the most prominent feature is the new Windows Explorer with Start screen. If you’ve used Microsoft Office 2010, then you must have observed the ribbon UI with different tabs. Windows Explorer in Windows 8 also comes with a similar ribbon interface. Many Windows users might take time to get familiar with this new interface as they have never used such an interface before. The new UI looks good but just in case if you want to disable explorer ribbon in Windows 8, then you can try using a freeware named as Ribbon Disabler.
Remove Ribbon in Windows Explorer
For this purpose we can use a portable and free tool – Ribbon Disabler. This tool can disable the explorer ribbon UI with just a few steps. Being a portable tool, it doesn’t require any installation. Just download and run it. You’ll be presented with the option to disable or enable explorer ribbon and then click on “Run”. If you’ve disabled it and in future you change your mind, then you can enable the ribbon UI again by running this program.
Note that once you have disabled it, you need to log off the PC or restart the Windows Explorer for the changes to take effect. This will disable the ribbon in Explorer only and this won’t have any effect while using programs like WordPad and Paint for example.
Currently Ribbon Disabler works with Windows 8 64 bit versions only and the developer is working on 32-bit version. Download it from below link.
