August 3, 2012 by Saqib Leave a Comment

The native Mail app in iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone can be configured for Gmail and it works really well. The configuration process is a breeze. After you setup your Email account in Mail app of iOS, you may want to delete/trash an Email directly from the app. But surprisingly, the option cannot be easily found.

Not just Gmail but you can also configure your Google Apps account in this mail app. Sometimes simple things like deleting an email is also complicated.

There are buttons for Move, Archive, Reply or Compose but you won’t be able to find any option to trash the email. Let’s learn how to trash an email.

How to Trash Email/Message in iOS

  1. Open Mail app from your iOS device and then open the Email that you want to delete/trash.
  2. Tap on “Move to Folder” button (from upper right corner).
  3. iOS mail app

  4. From this “Mailboxes” screen, tap on “Trash” button to move the mail/message to Trash folder. Note that you can still access the email from this Trash folder.
  5. Move to Trash

That’s how you can move a message to Trash in iOS.
