If you are a blogger, then you may already be knowing about Windows Live Writer. This is a free offering from Microsoft for bloggers. It comes with Microsoft’s Windows Live Essentials. If you are using Windows Live Writer and ever thought to backup posts, settings, plugins, etc then here is one useful utility that may seem interesting to you.
Backup Windows Live Writer Drafts, Plugins and Settings
If you have ever thought to migrate Windows Live Writer’s settings to another computer, then doing this is impossible until you manually backup files and registry keys. But doing all this would require much time and delving in the registry editor is not an easy process.
Fortunately, we have got a solution in the name of Windows Live Writer Backup Utility. This is a backup utility for Windows Live Writer. This backups blog settings, posts and plugins.
After downloading and installing, run this program. Choose what you want to backup (posts, plugins, settings, etc), and then click the big Backup button.
Give a name to the backup file and wait for sometime to complete the backup process. Finally, you will get a message that says “Backup completed”. Press the OK button.
If in future you want to restore this backup, right-click on the program and select “Run as administrator”. This will open the program, click on “restore” button and then choose the backup file that you wish to restore. You will be prompted if you are sure to do this. Select “Yes” and the restore process will start.
This is a superb lightweight application that can backup and restore Windows Live Writer drafts, plugins and settings.
You need to have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed on your computer to use this. This program runs on Windows Vista and Windows 7.
