Auto Respond to SMS and Calls with Auto SMS (Autoresponder) App [Android]

December 12, 2011 by Saqib Leave a Comment

We can find auto-responders for email system. Example: when creating a support ticket or registering at some website, we get an auto reply saying that your query is received or with the activation link. Autoresponders are nothing new and now this system can be used for your own Android cell phones. Yes, with this app, we can auto respond to SMS and missed calls.

Enter Auto SMS (Autoresponder), an Android app that responds to incoming SMS and missed calls automatically.

The user interface of this app is very simple. Install this app and start configuring settings as per your wish. The main menu has options for – Auto reply, Forward, Schedule, Instant, and Reader.

Now let’s learn all these options in detail.

Auto reply: Automatically reply with preset SMS message. Whenever you are unable to answer a call or text message, use this feature to auto reply with your custom SMS. The first thing that you’ll need to do is to create a “Profile”. Create a profile and then select “settings”.

There are different options like SMS Auto Response, Phone Auto Response, SMS Auto Reading, Reply message, Reply List, etc. Configure the settings which are self explanatory and you’re done. Here comes your personal smart Android auto-responder.

Forward: You can forward receiving SMS to specified numbers automatically. Suppose a person wants to forward all the incoming messages to another number, then just set the “Forwarding number” and enable the option. Businesses and teams will find this option really useful.

Schedule: With this feature, we can schedule to send SMS in future automatically. This is helpful when you want to send a SMS at a particular time only e.g. for birthday wishes or any other special occasion. Let’s say your friend is born at 2 AM. With this feature, schedule to send the SMS at 2 AM and you won’t need to be awake at that time, as this app will automatically send the SMS at this time.

Instant: Send a message instantly. For the first time you start this “Instant”, you will need to add contacts. Once contacts are added, we can send instant messages (SMS) to those contacts. Also there’s an option to send the SMS privately, that means it won’t be saved in “Sent” box. Want to send a quick SMS to your contact, then this is the option to go for. But I don’t see any point in using this feature, as we can always send SMS directly, then why use the app for this purpose, except that this app won’t store the SMS in Sent box.

Reader: Are you busy and don’t have any time to look on the screen and read that text message? No problem, this “reader” feature can read the SMS. During testing this text to speech didn’t worked and I had to go to “settings” and enable “Use Google Web TTS”. But for this, you will need internet connection. The developer has asked users to install Text-to-speech engine to make it work properly. This feature can really be useful for those who are driving or are too busy to read the SMS.
