AirLink Broadband Review

May 23, 2011 by Saqib 4 Comments

Airlink broadband

The world of ISP’s are increasing day by day. Everybody wants to take their share and earn some bucks. Some are strong players in India like BSNL, MTNL, Airtel, Reliance, You telecom and Hathway. These companies already have many clients, and some provide good customer support, and some don’t even care to receive the calls.

So the newest player in providing broadband connection is Airlink. What’s so special about this company is that it provides Wireless broadband. Yes, no wires and no other extra clutter. A small device is placed at the roof, and CAT5 cable is used to connect that device and the computer. Now this is what they call wireless.

Tariff plans and Prices of Airlink Broadband

The plans are exciting and affordable compared to other ISP’s like You telecom. I really liked that on Sunday, they offer increased speed in mostly all plans. E.g. in UNLTD – 600 plan, the typical speed is 600 kbps, but on Sunday, the speed is increased upto 1 Mbps. And in limited plans, they offer unlimited usage on Sunday. Take a look at below for plan details. These plans are just for “Unlimited Dual Speed” category, for other plans and more details, please check their official site, as the plans and pricing may change over time.

Performance and Speed
As per my observation, this is the first company that sometimes offer speeds which even exceeds the normal plan speed. E.g. on this plan – Duo 600D-2048N, the normal day speed should be 600 kbps, but “sometimes” this speed reaches upto 750 kbps. But only sometimes and not always. The normal speed which I received was 600 kbps. On testing the speed at speedtest.net, it showed ISP as Tata broadband and not Airlink, maybe that’s because they are in collaboration with Tata.

Now coming to the performance and reliability part. The internet regularly gets disconnected after regular intervals. And when it just went down, then upon calling customer care, no one cared to even understand the problem, and after much explanation, they said to send someone to check for the problem. Even after 10 days, no one came. They really need to improve their customer support. No one really wants to call them everyday and want to explain the same problem again.

From this, we can say that this company should improve their customer support and they should know the fact that “consumer is the king of the market”. Just selling plans and marketing won’t do the trick when they want to retain the customers.

Final thoughts:
As far as my opinion is concerned, skip getting internet from this new player. Instead, get broadband from some other company but not this one, unless you want to call them every day and explain your problem. And the reply which you typically get is that technical engineer will come to the house to check for the problem. But the real problem is no one comes to even check for the issue and sometimes they don’t even care to receive the calls. What I really like about that tagline, which is “Network that works”, should be “Network that never works”. Now this is what they call as irony.

Once of the worst internet service provider and very very stubborn. They do not worry for their customers and talk very roughly. Since last 8 days I tried continuously contacting their support but they never picket up their support phones and gave an email address. Which was also not responsive. Their executive Bharat also never pick up the phone and since last 10 days my internet is down. I would never prefer these company for Surat city as in ISP
