If you have recently installed Windows 8 Pro, then you may have observed that it doesn’t play DVD and many other codecs out of the box. But the good news is that for a limited time, Microsoft is offering Windows 8 Media Center Pack for free to customers who have purchased Windows 8 Pro.
The Windows 8 Media Center Pack can be installed for free, which allows you to watch and record live TV with Windows Media Center. Here’s how to get the Windows Media Center for free:
- Get a free product key from Microsoft’s website.
- Hit the shortcut, Win+W, then type “add features” in the search box. Select “Add features to Windows 8.”
- Click on “I already have a product key.” and then enter your product key. Click on Next.
- Select the check box to accept the license terms, and then click on “Add features.”
This offer does not apply to Windows 8 users who are not running Pro version. Just in case, if your PC is running Windows 8, then you can get Windows 8 Pro Pack and enjoy all the features of Windows 8 Pro as well as Windows Media Center for $69.99.
Note: Don’t forget to grab this offer before January 31st 2013. After that, you will need to purchase Media Center Pack separately.
