Simple and Easiest Way to Share Files Online with Droplr

In these days of online cloud storage, file sharing is as easy as drag and drop. We’ve already reviewed many apps/file sharing services like 4Sync, Minus, CX, etc. Droplr is yet another service through which we can upload documents, images, music, videos and more to the cloud and then share the download link with friends. Think of this, as yet another file sharing site but with a simple and cooler web interface. Droplr offers 1GB of free storage space with a limit of maximum 50MB per file.

Simple, Online Cloud Storage with Droplr

Like Dropbox and other similar online cloud storages, you can share files in two ways – Via web interface or via Windows/Mac desktop app. Installing the app is not compulsory but it definitely brings more features to the table like capturing sreenshots, composing notes, uploading from clipboard and more. Let’s get into more details.

Web Interface:
Things are too simple with Droplr. Firstly, you’ll need to “Register” and then activate your account by clicking on the confirmation link in the email. After activating, you can login to web interface and start uploading files. Some people may find it strange that there is no “Upload” button, yes you read it right. Instead, there is an easy way to share files, all you need to do is to just drag and drop files to the specified area on left bottom of the screen.

On the left sidebar, you can find options to view only images, audio, videos, notes, links or files. To view all uploaded files, click on “All”. In the bottom you can see the area where you can drag files from your computer and drop in to this area to upload online. After uploading, click on File sharing is this simple with Droplr, now that’s what we call simplest and easiest way to upload files online.

Desktop App:
Head over to Droplr and click on “Download” button to download the desktop app. You would be surprised to know that the desktop app for Windows is just 847 kb in size. And if you’ve got a Mac, then you can download Droplr app for Mac also.

Install the app and login or signup if you’ve not created an account. To upload files, like we did on the web interface, all you need to do is to just drag and drop the file to the simple interface and this app will take care of the rest part. The app will upload files online and then present a short link to you, share it with friends or post them on social networks. All the files that you upload via this desktop app is also available via the web interface.

Right click this interface and you’ll be presented with various useful options.

To get the short link, scroll over the file name to open a menu with options like open in browser, copy link and delete. To get the download link, click on “copy link”. Now you can share this download link with your friends.

Suppose you want to grab a screenshot and want to upload it online. Click on “Grab screenshot” to grab the screenshot, in the next step you can select how much area you want to capture, select the area and then the screenshot will be automatically uploaded online, so that you can share that screenshot with friends and family, or post it to Facebook and Twitter. Who thought that grabbing a screenshot and posting it online is this easy.

You can also compose “notes” or small “code snippets”. To do this, click on “Compose note”. You’ll be presented with a text area to write the note, if its a code then select “code” from the drop down menu. The syntax will also be highlighted for you.
