How to Use the New App Tabs in Firefox 4

Firefox 4 is out now, and if you are still using older version, then its highly recommended to download and install the new version. The new version comes with some new bells and whistles which makes it stand out from others. More and more people have started to use Firefox because its free and more secure that Internet Explorer. One of the new feature of Firefox 4 is the new App tabs.

Ever felt the need to pin some websites permanently which you regularly visit like facebook, twitter, Gmail, etc. You can pin these sites and whenever you open Firefox, they will be always there. Now there’s no need to bookmark the site and click on that bookmark button everytime, because the apps will always be there.

How to Setup App Tabs

No, don’t worry, there is no long process here, creating app tabs is very easy and is a piece of cake. Just open the website which you want to pin and then right click on that tab, and click on Pin as App Tab.

That’s done. Now you will see this particular website as small icons in the left hand side of normal tabs. Below is preview:

In this screen, you can see that facebook and twitter are added. You can add any site here. Open the site which you want and repeat this same process.

How can I remove App tabs

This is easy peasy. Just right click on that particular tab and click on Unpin Tab. OR you can also drag and drop that tab into your normal tabs, and it will automatically be unpinned.

Using this new app tabs is very easy. This app tab can save you a lot of time and is very useful for frequently used sites/webpages. You just don’t have to open them once its added to this App Tab. Also you can’t close this app tab, as there is no close button. This will save yourself when you are writing a long Email and a tab is accidentally closed.

Tip: You can also rearrange the tabs by just dragging them to the left or right and arrange as per your wish.
